25 April 2012 Written by: No Comment

Hello friends, this is the list of top 10 strategic technology trends for 2012 given by Gartner.

Today in any organization, the technology makes up of many systems widely getting responses and interactions with namely; Human experience, Business Experience and IT Department Experience.

For taking place of any profitable technology business, all the three experiences should be aligned very perfectly to achieve the overall goals and targets. So, following is the list stating strategic tech trends for 2012 and can be taken into consideration by any individual or firm to earn huge profits.

Also, these emerging issues and trends need more investment of capital to fulfill the needs of the society profitably.

1. Media Tablets and Beyond

This is the era to “Keep the technology at your fingertips”. The growing arena of smartphone, will surely demand fast processors, High resolution screens, 3D and HD videos and more sensors to result in high end devices.

2. Mobile Centric Applications

Tools and know how to develop more optimized mobile applications will improve the mobile applications to a new height.

3. Contextual and Social User Experience

Context aware system deals with getting the user’s need and proactively serves with the best suitable and optimized content, product or service. The one promising area can be near field communication for getting into more and more devices. It’s been foreseen that several content service providers will boom their services to track smartphone users’ activities with google, apple, microsoft and nokia. This will be done by continuously tracking users’ daily journey and digital habits.

4. Internet of Things

With IoT, internet will expand as sensors and intelligence are being added to physical items like consumer device or physical assets and how they all are connected with internet will decide identifying, sensing and communicating the things. The key elements will be Embedded Sensors, Image Recognition, Near Field Communication (NFC).

5. Next Generation Analytics

On the way, shifting towards cloud and cloud resources for high performance and grid computing, Analytics is the beginning. In the generation next, analytics is growing along three key dimensions, namely, from traditional offline analytics to in-line embedded analytics, from analyzing historical data to simulate and predict the future and from structured and simple data to complex information (text, video etc).

6. Big Data

The traditional data management technologies are not capable to fulfil the size, complexity of formats and speed of delivery. The result is requirement of new and exotic technologies to manage the volume alone. This will give rise to technologies like in memory DBMS, MapReduce outside and inside the DBMS, use of self service data marts and logical data warehouses. Logical data warehouses will replace single data warehouse model, bringing together information from multiple sources.

7. Application Stores and Market Places

Today, hundreds of thousands of applications are available to mobile users by application stores of Apple and Android. There will be more than 70 billion mobile application downloads from app stores every year, as forecasted by Gartner. This will require an ecosystem to support entrepreneurs providing governance and brokerage services to users.

8. In Memory Computing

There will be a huge use of flash memory in consumer devices, entertainment equipment and other embedded systems. It will result in a new layer of memory hierarchy in servers having key advantages like space heat, performance and ruggedness among them. Some In Memory applications platforms will be in-memory analytics, event processing platforms, in-memory application servers, in-memory data management and in-memory messaging.

9. Extreme Low Energy Servers

These proposed systems are built on low power processors typically used in mobile devices. The potential advantage is delivering 30 times or more processors in a particular server unit with low power consumption vs. current server approaches.

10. Cloud Computing

Cloud market will see a full range of large enterprise providers fully engaged in delivering a range of offerings to build cloud environments and deliver cloud services. Oracle, IBM and SAP have big plans to broader range of cloud services over next two years. Enterprises will see cloud a new resource to make decisions and will see where to build out private clouds on their workloads. New category, hybrid cloud computing will emerge, bringing together external public cloud services and internal private cloud services. New certification courses will be ready for trial like FedRAMP and CAMM. DevOps concepts will gain popularity to bring operations and development groups together on private cloud front to spped up efficiencies of public cloud service providers.
